RUTH BEATTIE JEWELRY LAUNCHES SITE
NEW YORK DESIGNER FINDS WEARABLE TREASURE BENEATH THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE

New York Jewelry designer, Allison Culbertson, a.k.a. Ruth Beattie Jewelry has created a unique niche in the competitive market of jewelry design. While others were perhaps walking across, sailing under or photographing the Brooklyn Bridge, Allison Culbertson was beneath it on a little known beach on the Manhattan side. The beach is a refuge of sorts for her dogs, Dory and Schooner, two black labs who care more about water than dog-runs. For their owner, it is a city get-away, and a precious source of inventory.

Upon her first walk on the beach in 2006, Ms. Culbertson discovered more beach glass than she had ever seen before, bottles full (no pun intended). And, it was all so beautiful. This led to her thinking that the bottle has a message all its own. The bottle, in fact, is the message. Enter: the Brooklyn Bridge beach glass collection. The Brooklyn Bridge beach glass collection is the marquee line for Ruth Beattie jewelry.

The symbolism is strong. And, not only because it is from beneath the Brooklyn Bridge, or that it reminds us that Manhattan is an island. It has a timeless quality, a special memory and a power all its own. It tells us that when we look at the Brooklyn Bridge, to look down too, and put our feet in the sand with it. It allows us to think, and remember, and appreciate - especially the small things in life that we tend to forget. It lets us know how significant the story of a tossed out bottle can be. Beach glass is perhaps the purest definition of - second chance.

All of the jewelry in the Ruth Beattie inventory is symbolic somehow, whether it be birth stones, special minerals, gems or found objects. Its intention is to remind us (the wearer) that there are many types of gems in this world. And, the hope is that by wearing Ruth Beattie jewelry, it will help us not to forget.
